Workshop II – The Film Financing Update

Sunday, May 20th 2007
1100 – 1300

The new UK tax credit film scheme is up and running. It provides tax deductions and credits on certain film production costs incurred in the UK. To be eligible for support, films other than European co-productions must meet certain criteria contained within the points-based "cultural test". Also, the newly established, similarly structured German Film Fund is operating and has already advanced grants to the first set of film projects.
What are the first experiences and lessons learned? How does France fit into the picture? How do the new programmes in neighbouring countries affect co-productions with France?
Catch up on both the UK and German schemes’ requirements and conditions and on their compatibility with other tax incentives. Learn to use both instruments for your movie.

Workshop III - Brand Integration
Monday, May 21st 2007
1100 – 1300

Filmmakers can greatly benefit from creatively involving brands in their pictures, which, obviously, should not end at pure product placement. Working with brands unfolds its real value in powerful cross promotion campaigns. Necessarily, such communication needs to be multiplatform to effectively reach the target audience. But each platform needs different formats which can accompany the movie, like PC and Internet games, or side stories from the movie told online, or in specially produced mobisodes.
This workshop will show you best practise examples. You will know what to consider regarding rights and licensing windows and what you can gain in the end.
